Developing a new strategic plan can be a time consuming and expensive process for a school district. So, how do you know whether it is time to invest in the development of a new plan?
Here is a very simple assessment I share with district leaders and board members that are considering whether to take the time to develop a new plan. The purpose of the assessment is to not to make the final decision for the organization whether a new strategic plan is needed. Rather, the assessment should be used to generate a conversation about how the plan is used currently. By having a conversation about the utility of the current strategic plan, the board and district leaders should be able to better decide if they are ready to invest in a new plan.
